10 is the combined forces of Korean new wave avant-garde musician, Itta, and Japanese noise creator Marquido (laptop, theremins, synthesizers).
Formed in 2005, they have toured Asia, Europe and the US, playing at arts and experimental music festivals – France (Infamous Carousel), Spain (Experimentaclub), China (Mini Midi, DIAF, 2pi Festival).
They have also been chosen for the artist-in-residence programmes in Kwangju, Busan and Ansung in Korea, and Beijing’s Shangyuan Art Museum in China.
10 have released a number of albums in the last five years to a growing number of online fans – LIVE(2005), UFO EP(2006), UFO(2007), See You New World(2007, 2pi Records – w/Li Jianhong), NOMAD(2008, YOGIGA Records), KITSCH(2009, Maybe Mars & Maybe Noise) Itta’s name in Korean translates as ‘Exist’ while Marquido’s name in Japanese is made up from the words ‘circle’, ‘delight’ and ‘anger’.
The current European tour has seen them based in Berlin, while also playing in France and the UK before coming to Ireland for the first time.
Itta’s solo show involves her playing kids’ toys through effects, combined with vocals and keys. Marquido brings more of an electronic element to 10, but the bleeps and beats are almost always surrounded by psychedelic sounds.
