Ireland’s biggest band (well . . .) The National open the new series of RTÉ’s ‘Other Voices’ screening on Wednesday, February 16. With three sold out shows at The Olympia before heading to St James’ Church in Dingle, The National are certainly flavour of the month here and probably the best way to open this ninth series of the programme.
Actual Irish artists featuring during the series include O Emperor, Cathy Davey, James Vincent McMorrow, Jennifer Evans and Lisa Hannigan, while Jarvis Cocker and Richard Hawley are among those representing the away team. Why RTÉ, in its wisdom, still deems this a show that should go out at 11.30pm is anyone’s guess, but still there should be enough decent performances to ensure a healthy, if weary, audience.
