Coming up this Sunday night as part of the 23rd Cork French Film Festival, French rockers Bikini Machine play a live soundtrack to Roberto Rodriguez’ cult classic Desperado.
For Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, taking songs and putting them in a movie sequence is about as cinematic a thing as you can do. Roberto Rodriguez doesn’t make sound a minor element of his work and there lay the interest and the challenge for Bikini Machine.
Convinced their music can serve and enrich these films French rockers Bikini Machine chose Desperado:
The simple tale of a trigger-happy guitar player who travels Mexico avenging his beloved who was killed by a drug dealer. More than just a backing track, this is rock ‘n roll alchemy, fusing original film audio with a live soundtrack that smashes open the gates of cinema.
