GoodCop BadCop Presents
Bouts (Dublin)
with support from
Terriers (Cork)
Followed by Adultrock in Gulpd at 11pm
Plugd Records, Triskel Arts Centre,
Saturday April 7th, 8:30pm
€4 entry (or €8 with Bouts vinyl)
Formed late last year, Bouts have made a name for themselves in the
last few months with a very well-received EP and now a double A-side
single that’s caught the attention of national press and blogs alike
as well as further afield, with Lauren Laverne recently giving them
props on her BBC show (which included a good-natured mocking of their
poor handwriting skills). Their bright and breezy indie pop recalls a
shinier version of Dinosaur Jr. or Built to Spill and the band aren’t
afraid of a good old-fasioned big hook when required. This tour marks
their first physical release, the excellent double A-side single “Get
Sick/Turn Away”, released on hand-numbered 7″ vinyl and limited to 200
copies (available at the gig or online here).
Support on the night is from new Cork band Terriers who will be
playing their very first gig together. Made up of members of Fat
Actress and Slugbait, this four piece are going down a much more
different route with Terriers, driven by indie-pop sensibilities and a
healthy dose of guitar-based melody.
Presented by GoodCop BadCop and Plugd Records, the gig takes place in
Plugd on Easter Saturday 7th April from 8:30pm. Entry is a measly €4
or you can pay €8 and get Bouts’ 7″ vinyl single to boot.
Following the gig, Adultrock (also known as Gavin Elsted, frontman of
Dublin indie-popsters We Are Losers) will be playing downstairs in
Gulpd Café. Just this week he’s released his debut nine track EP
‘Loves’ for name your price/free download on Bandcamp; check it out
here.
