Something new that’s Irish, releasing on Planet Function Records, is the new album from Donegal band The Plea. It’s called The Dreamers Stadium and that last word may give a clue about where the band see their future.
That’s if the first two tracks to see the light of day are anything to go by. It’s sky-gazing BIG music, a la The Verve – particularly in the lilting swagger of vocalist Denny Doherty – and would not be out of place at a stadium near you.
Apparently the band developed their chops on the pub circuit in the States and it sounds like they’re well able to find their way around a tune.
