Adam Carroll, singer with Time is a Thief, gives us five musical picks
To pick my top 5 favourite songs ever is like trying to fart and burp at the same time, almost impossible. Albums is one thing but songs, that is a challenge. These are the 5 tracks I love and listen to a lot at the moment when my headphones enter my ears. 1 or 2 are newbies to my ears but some are favourites for a long time. In no particular order:
1.Neil Cowley Trio-Fable
Saw these guys recently and they blew my mind. I got to hear them through a video for upcoming gigs in Cork that we were on and it was about a 15sec clip of one of their videos. I checked them on the net and this track blew my mind and it was also one of the best gigs I’ve been to. So just check them out right now!!!!
(Our Conor thought so too Adam, here’s his review of the Triskel Christchurch gig – Ed.

2.Smashing Pumpkins-Zero
This song is an old favourite. The riff, the sarcastic tone in Billy Corgan’s voice, the groove. Just everything is stunning. We recently decided to play this in our practice room, and it must have been played at least 6 times in a row because it was that much fun to play. So it deserves to be on this list.
3.Billy Talent-Try Honesty (and every other track by them)
One of our biggest influences and one of my favourite bands. This is the track that made them and made me discover them. Flawless stuff. Check out the video too for the really savage gruaig’s they had then.(Que Pinocchio nose)
4.Pixies-Monkey gone to heaven
One of my favourite albums ever and the sheer simplicity of this song is what makes it so good. Black Francis has one of the coolest voices in rock and the lyrics are just brilliant.
5. 80′s pop- Outfield, Pat Benater, Flock of Seagulls etc.
I am an absolute sucker for the toe tapping, finger salute 80′s tunes. Most artists back then all had at least one incredible track on a cat piss album. So just find those tracks, make a mix cd and have a banging party. Let me know when it’s happening though because I’ll be well up for that kind of shindig.
Time is a Thief’s debut album, We’re not strangers, is released on Apr 27th
