You may remember we mentioned a band called Fighting Spiders last month.

No? Have a read here.

So, they’ve been in touch again. Same good manners, same level of ambition and similarly pitched cracking tunes.

The first two tracks, ‘See from space’ and ‘Instead of’ move in the electro-indie stratosphere and would suffer no disgrace in the company of a Metronomy or a Hot Chip, being unassuming pop nuggets coasting over sprightly, bouncy backbeats.

Third song ‘Silk demands’ (being from the country album experiment) finds a harmonica lying around and turns it into a beautiful campfire accompanist. While closer ‘Tomorrow’ brings in a little Burt (Bacharach, not Reynolds), making a classic, lovelorn ballad with some exquisite keychanges, swooning strings and what sound like bicycle bells twinkling down the lane.

It’s all VERY accomplished and becomes more intriguing the more we listen. If they can keep this up for another month, never mind 12, Fighting will be futile.
