These 5 tracks are not necessarily my favourite 5, but they seem to be the most played on my iTunes in the past 2 years.

1. Land of Talk – Some Are Lakes
A very under-rated Canadian band who have been very quiet as of late. This song is the title track of their debut album produced by Bon Iver. Unfortunately it received very little attention and it didn’t get the recognition it deserved. I saw this band play in London for the first time in 2009 the night before I moved back to Ireland after 5 years in England.

2. Phoenix – Rome (Neighbours Remix With Devendra Banhart)
I heard this song when traveling in the US a couple of years ago on a great satellite radio station called Sirius XMU. This track was playlisted and seemed to be played every hour or so. Listening to this track brings back great memories of driving around the middle of America.

3. Animal Collective – Street Flash
I saw Animal Collective play at ATP in 2008 without knowing too much about the band. This track was released around the time and seeing it live made me a huge fan of the band. The EP that this track is taken from “Water Curses” is my favourite work of the band.

4. Atlas Sound – Cold and Golden
This is another track I heard for the first time at the Explosions in the Sky ATP in 2008. It was just Bradford Cox and a girl onstage and they played an amazing version of this still unreleased track. Still surprised this track never made it on an album.

5. Midlake – Some of them were Superstitious
I picked up a Bella Union Sampler CD called Beneath the Surface in a record store in England a few years ago and this track was on it. I had not heard of the band before this and this track made me a big fan. This still remains my favourite Midlake track.
