We wanted to share an interesting e-mail with you.
Containing information pertaining to your musical entertainment in the city of Cork on the longest day of the year (that’s tomorrow).

I have started a tiny a production company called Alain Delon presents. I hope to put on a show every couple of months but of course Cork is a tough, flaky city prone to gifting promoters audiences of single digits and cueing heartache and misery inside the souls of all involved. I want to put on intimate shows in small rooms with a respectable audience who use their ears and not mouths when someone is on stage with a microphone. Wow that sounds like fun…. I want to go to that gig… I also want the gig to be more than a gig. Some music and some stand up, some music and some ping pong etc as multi tasking is underrated and band/band/band – home has been done more than once.
My first show is on Thursday night at The Roundy. Headlining is Australian singer-songwriter Ben Salter. Ben is currently touring Europe in support of his latest record The Cat. If you want to play the sounds like game, well Elliot Smith, Nick Drake and The Go-Betweens would be reference points. I think that he is his own beast though and live he truly shines with his strong voice and affability. Personally I hate writing about music but you can find his music here – http://bensaltermusic.bandcamp.com
Also on the bill are two local supports – The Painkillers and Diarmuid O’Leary and there will also be some stand-up from Sean Coughlan. And, I will play my favorite New Zealand and Australian records between sets as ‘Tally Ho’ by The Clean deserves an audience.
It should be fun so if you are free on Thursday please come along.
Sounds good. We will indeed, Monsieur Delon…
