Attention Swedish fans (no, this isn’t about the EUROS).
First Aid Kit is the name of a band with whom you’ll be acquainted if you’re into exquisite harmonies, made up as it is of Stockholm sisters Klara and Johanna Soderberg.
Their album The Lion’s Roar came out earlier in the year, produced by Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes fame, and contained at least two knockout tunes, as far as these ears were concerned. One of those is new single ‘Blue’, which has an elegant country swing, some charming glockenspiel, widescreen strings and those aforementioned sisterly harmonies. It’s nothing short of gorgeous.
I must say I’m also very partial to the previous single ‘Emmylou’ which has a chorus guaranteed to go down in pop music legend – “I’ll be your Emmylou and I’ll be your June, you’ll be my Gram and my Johnny too“. If you can’t see your way to be won over by that, well I just don’t know. (If that’s the case, try the glorious steel guitar.)
