You know the way David Byrne is a real Renaissance Man?
Well, I’m going to say that St Vincent is a true Renaissance Woman.
And appropriately, they are to release an album together in the “autumn” (are we still using these season things? – Ed.), called Love this giant. I can’t wait. And nor do I have to, at least to hear the first track because they’re giving it away for free on their website (I’m sure you’ll be able to track it down without me doing that tiresome linking thing here). It’s rather brilliant, being built around an off-kilter brass band motif. I like a bit of brass.
Of course, St Vincent visits this country very soon to play the Body & Soul Festival at Ballinlough Castle in Co Meath, June 22-24. She’s probably the best-dressed woman ever to set foot in that county. And you should all watch every second of her spookily superb 4AD session below too – the way she spits out those guitar riffs without putting a hair out of place would put most male moshers to shame.
