You may have heard there’s a party in Myrtleville this Saturday night, July 21st.

Pine Lodge is the venue (you know the one, legendary) and they’re calling the event Lodgefest, which is logical.

It features four Cork bands you’ve heard of here, and elsewhere, before – Hope Is Noise, Lamp, Terror Pop, Terriers. (Four Go Down to the Sea? – Ed.)

We asked Dan from HIN to give us the background on the event.

Basically, many smaller or more underground bands like us rarely get a chance to play the larger Cork or national festivals, so we decided to host our own DIY version. Thankfully we were able to get three of the best current bands in Cork to agree to play so it should make for an great night of music. We have had some memorable nights down in Myrtleville over the years especially at the now defunct ‘Party in The Pines’ so when we saw an opportunity to hold a similar night, we jumped at it. Pat, the owner of Pine Lodge, has been very supportive from the start.

For anyone looking for tickets, please send an email with your name to lodgefest2012@gmail.com and that will keep a ticket. There are a limited number left so it is one ticket only per email. The ticket costs 10 euro and includes entry into the gig. The bus leaves Patrick’s Quay at 7pm and should leave from Myrtleville at about 1.30am. For those who find their own way down, entry to the gig will be on a ‘donate what you can give’ basis. There will be Merch on sale and the Pine Lodge have organised a BBQ for beer soakage…..

Time is running out so get on it.
