Anna from Dott gives us her personal recommendations for the knees-up in Stradbally next weekend…
I think I’ll be taking a trip down memory lane this week listening to the bands playing Electric Picnic who featured very heavily on my teenage cd player. But there’s also some newer stuff I can’t wait to see too.
So here are five of my Electric Picnic 2012 top picks…
1. Grandaddy – Now It’s On
From their 2003 album Sumday. I think this is my favourite Grandaddy song, perfect pop, and the harmonies just make me melt. This will also be my first time seeing Grandaddy live so I’m very excited!
2. The Cure – Close To Me
It was hard to choose between this and, well, loads of songs by The Cure but this one is special to me. The opening bars make me instantly smile and do a little embarrassing dance! I used to DJ in the Roisin Dubh and when I played this I think the whole dance floor would do the same little smile and silly dance.
3. Bat For Lashes – What’s A Girl To Do
I’m a big Bat For Lashes fan, and can’t wait for the new album. This is my favourite song by her, with the most perfect video ever too. There have been loads of clips of songs from The Haunted Man floating around the net so I can’t wait to hear them for myself on Sunday!
4. Explosions in the Sky – Memorial
Another first for me here, and I can’t wait to experience Explosions in the Sky live. I have a feeling I’ll be watching this in some kind of emotional, euphoric daze, hopefully somewhere near the front.
5. Grimes – Oblivion
I’m hoping Grimes this year will be what Lykke Li was for me last year. A feel good dance-along pop anthem. Can’t wait!
Dott play the Bamboo Stage (Body & Soul) at Electric Picnic on Sat Sept 1st at 6.30pm
