Fighting Spiders are another band we’ve mentioned this year already.

They have a monthly EP project on the go (plus an extra one for Christmas), with the aim of releasing 52 songs in 12 months. You can check the progress so far on their website, http://www.wearefightingspiders.com/#.

July’s offering features the usual spectrum of electro-pop, Beatle-ish melodies, folk-pop and orchestral arrangements (that’s one style per song, there’s a whole rationale behind that in case you’re wondering which you’ll find on their website).

There’s also a charming stop-motion video for ’21′, a song that resides somewhere between ‘End of a Century’ Blur and the sweeping baroque pop of The Dears. It has the usual handsome lead vocal and people, when there’s trumpet involved, there’s just no argument…

You can check Fighting Spiders’ glorious melodies at Downes’ Bar in Waterford as part of the Spraoi Festival this weekend Aug 3rd.
