The latest in the Murphy’s Little Big Weekend series lands on the last weekend of August, with Peter Hook and The Light the star attraction.
There’s also strong Irish support on the bill, as you can read in the bumpf below.
MURPHY’S LITTLE BIG WEEKEND
AUGUST 25 – 26
BEAMISH & CRAWFORD SITE
SOUTH MAIN ST
CORK
The second Murphy’s Little Big Weekend of 2012 comes to Cork over three events on August 25 – 26.
Thousands of people enjoyed May’s installment of the Little Big Weekend with headliners, The Human League and there is more quality music, entertainment, food and of course fantastic stout on the way at the Beamish & Crawford site, Cork.
Headlining this Little Big Weekend is a true legend of the UK post-punk scene, Peter Hook of Joy Division and New Order. ‘Hooky’ will be playing live with his band The Light at the MURPHY’S BIG GIG and will play a Joy Division album in its entirety, as well as a selection of classics including ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ and ‘Blue Monday’.
Continuing MURPHY’S long association with great Irish music; Jape, John Spillane, O Emperor, Toby Kaar and The Would Be’s are just some of the artists playing on the Main Stage, Acoustic Stage and Electronic Stage at the MURPHY’S RISING gig on Sunday night.
In between these fantastic shows, MURPHY’S BIA, CEOIL AGUS CRAIC takes place on Sunday afternoon and patrons will be invited to sample some of Cork’s finest artisan cuisine, alongside a lively day’s trad music curated by the renowned De Barra’s Folk Club of Clonakilty.
Those wishing to attend one of these three great events can go to the MURPHY’S website (wwwlittlebignightsout.com) for a chance to win complimentary tickets. You can also keep up to date on developments on the Facebook page.
