Hot off the presses, news of a special event at Gulpd Café next Saturday night, Sept 1st, 8.30pm, involving B-Music stalwart and DJ Darren McCreesh.
Let’s employ the “cut and paste function”, shall we?
Last month Finders Keepers Records/B-Music presented this first ever compendium
of Irish post punk and new wave, featuring extensive liner notes and rare photos with the full participation of featured artists and bands including The Virgin Prunes, Major Thinkers, Dogmatic Element, SM Corporation, The Threat, Chant! Chant! Chant! and Operating Theatre.
Focusing on a three year period from 1980 to 1983, Strange Passion is a fascinating compilation of rare, unheralded and unreleased music that emerged in Ireland following the first wave of punk and new wave bands.
Culled together from limited privately pressed vinyl and homemade cassettes by resident B-Music Dublin DJ Darren McCreesh, the album compiles 14 rare and seldom-travelled Irish post-punk, DIY and electronic oddities.
This Saturday we have Darren McCreesh down to chat about the compilation and play music from the era. Join us for this very special launch event and listening party, a celebration of post punk and electronic music. Limited places so get here early.
You heard the man, get there early.
